Description

Craving a quick dinner that tastes like your favorite takeout order? These PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps are an easy dinner packed with savory chicken, crunchy water chestnuts, and a rich glossy sauce tucked into crisp lettuce cups. They are perfect for weeknight meals, party appetizers, healthy snack options, and food ideas when you want fresh flavor without a lot of fuss.

Ingredients

1 lb chicken breast, finely diced

1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated

1 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

1 cup water chestnuts, chopped

1/4 cup soy sauce

3 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tbsp brown sugar

2 green onions, sliced

1 tsp sesame seeds

Instructions

1. Wash and dry the butter lettuce leaves, then set them aside on a serving platter.

2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and brown sugar.

3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

4. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.

5. Stir in the garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

6. Add the diced chicken and cook, stirring often, until fully cooked and lightly browned.

7. Stir in the chopped water chestnuts.

8. Pour the sauce into the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture is glossy and slightly thickened.

9. Stir in half of the green onions.

10. Spoon the warm chicken mixture into the lettuce leaves and top with the remaining green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Finely dicing the chicken gives the filling the best texture and helps it cook quickly.

Keep the lettuce and filling separate until serving so the leaves stay crisp.

Add a little sriracha or chili garlic sauce if you want a spicier version.
