Description

Cozy Winter Lattes are a warm, creamy coffeehouse-style drink that turns an ordinary cold day into something special. This easy recipe is perfect for a quick breakfast, cozy brunch, holiday sipping, or relaxing food ideas when you want simple breakfast ideas with rich espresso, frothy milk, and sweet winter spice.

Ingredients

2 shots espresso or 1 cup strong brewed coffee

1 1/2 cups whole milk

1/4 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 cup whipped cream

1 pinch ground cinnamon for topping

Instructions

1. Brew the espresso or strong coffee and divide it between two mugs.

2. In a small saucepan, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.

3. Heat the mixture over low to medium heat, stirring often, until hot and steaming but not boiling.

4. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

5. Froth the milk mixture with a handheld frother or whisk until lightly foamy.

6. Pour the warm milk mixture into the mugs over the coffee.

7. Spoon the foam on top, then finish with whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon.

8. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Do not boil the milk mixture, or the texture can become flat and less creamy.

For a stronger latte flavor, use espresso instead of brewed coffee.

Oat milk can work well as a dairy-free option, especially if you still want a frothy finish.
