South Carolina Bird Dog Sandwiches

Description

Golden-fried chicken tenders tucked into a toasted hoagie roll, smothered with creamy cheddar cheese sauce—this sandwich is Southern comfort on a bun. It’s quick to assemble and packed with crispy, cheesy, and satisfying flavor.


Ingredients

6 chicken tenders (homemade or frozen)

2 soft sub rolls

1 tablespoon butter (for toasting rolls)

1 cup cheddar cheese sauce

Optional: 2 tablespoons ranch or honey mustard

Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Slice sub rolls in half without cutting all the way through. Butter the insides and toast in a skillet or under the broiler until golden.
  2. Cook chicken tenders according to package or recipe instructions until crispy and cooked through.
  3. Warm cheddar cheese sauce in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Add a splash of milk if needed to adjust consistency.
  4. Optional: spread ranch or honey mustard on the inside of each roll.
  5. Place 2-3 chicken tenders in each roll. Drizzle generously with warm cheese sauce.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley if using. Serve immediately while hot.
