Description
Sausage Broccoli Orzo is a cozy one-pan dinner that blends savory Italian sausage, tender orzo pasta, and crisp broccoli into a creamy, satisfying meal. It’s an easy, weeknight-friendly recipe with big flavor and little cleanup.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
10 ounces Italian sausage, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup orzo pasta
2 ½ cups chicken broth
2 cups broccoli florets
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
2. In the same pan, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. Stir in orzo and toast for 2–3 minutes.
4. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook uncovered for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Add broccoli and the browned sausage back to the pan. Cover and cook for 4–5 more minutes until broccoli is tender.
6. Stir in Parmesan and parsley. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve warm.
Notes
For extra creaminess, stir in 1 tablespoon of cream cheese at the end.
Swap fresh broccoli with frozen florets; just add them a bit earlier.
Use spicy sausage for added heat or go mild for a family-friendly dish.
