Description

This Salted Caramel Buttercream Frosting is rich, silky, and luxurious — a dreamy topping made for elevating any cake, cupcake, or dessert. With buttery depth, smooth caramel sweetness, and a hint of salt, it’s a show-stopping frosting that’s easy to make and even easier to devour.


Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (cooled)

1 to 2 tablespoons heavy cream

1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional)


Instructions

1. Place softened butter into a mixing bowl and beat on medium-high speed for 2 to 3 minutes, until pale and fluffy.

2. Lower the speed and add powdered sugar gradually, mixing on low until incorporated. Then beat on medium for another 2 minutes.

3. Add cooled salted caramel sauce and beat until the frosting is smooth and glossy.

4. Add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time, beating well between additions until the desired consistency is reached.

5. Optionally, sprinkle in flaky sea salt and give it a final mix. Taste and adjust salt or caramel to preference.

Notes

Use high-quality salted caramel sauce or homemade for best flavor.

Make sure butter is truly room temperature to ensure proper creaming.

If frosting feels too soft for piping, chill it for 10–15 minutes before using.
