Description

This Salmon with Brown Sugar Glaze is the perfect balance of sweet and savory, seared to golden perfection and finished in the oven. With minimal prep and a quick glaze of brown sugar, Dijon mustard, garlic, and soy sauce, this flavorful salmon is a weeknight dinner hero or a dinner-party centerpiece.

Ingredients

4 salmon fillets

1⁄4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1⁄4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Warm on low heat until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens slightly. Set aside.

2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

3. Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel.

4. Sear the salmon, skin-side up, for 3–4 minutes until golden brown.

5. Flip the fillets and brush each with the prepared glaze.

6. Transfer skillet to the oven and bake for 8–10 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 125°F.

7. Baste once more with warm glaze before serving. Optionally, garnish with lemon wedges or herbs.

Notes

For best texture, don’t overbake the salmon — aim for medium doneness and let it rest briefly.

You can prep the glaze 3–5 days in advance and keep it chilled until use.

Add lemon zest or a splash of apple cider vinegar to the glaze for an extra zing.
