Description

This One Pot Creamy Cajun Sausage Pasta is a comforting, bold-flavored meal that’s ready in about 30 minutes. Featuring juicy seared sausage, perfectly cooked pasta, and a rich Cajun-spiced cream sauce, this dish is ideal for busy weeknights or casual gatherings. Everything cooks in one pot—less mess, more flavor!


Ingredients

12 oz penne pasta

14 oz smoked sausage, sliced into rounds

1 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, diced

2 cups chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

1 ½ tsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)

½ tsp paprika

¼ tsp black pepper

Salt to taste

1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)


Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add sliced sausage and sear until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.

2. In the same pot, sauté the diced onion until translucent, then add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

3. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in Cajun seasoning, paprika, black pepper, and a pinch of salt.

4. Add uncooked penne pasta to the liquid and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 12–14 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender.

5. Return the browned sausage to the pot. Stir in shredded parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce thickens.

6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley and extra parmesan if desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.

Use freshly grated parmesan for best texture and melting.

Adjust Cajun spice level depending on your heat tolerance.
