One-Pan Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice is a bold, comforting dish that delivers big flavor with minimal effort. Smoky sausage slices are seared to perfection, then simmered with rice in a sweet and tangy barbecue-infused broth until everything is rich, sticky, and satisfying. Ingredients
1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced
1 1/2 cups uncooked long grain rice
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp olive oil
2 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Chopped green onions or parsley (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear sausage slices until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add remaining oil if needed. Sauté chopped onion for 5 minutes until translucent.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add uncooked rice. Stir to coat and toast for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden.
- Pour in chicken broth, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce. Scrape bottom of the pan.
- Return sausage to the pan. Bring to simmer, cover, and reduce heat to low.
- Simmer for 18–20 minutes, stirring once halfway, until rice is cooked.
- Turn off heat. Let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and season to taste.
- Garnish with green onions or parsley before serving.
