Description

One-Pan Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice is a bold, comforting dish that delivers big flavor with minimal effort. Smoky sausage slices are seared to perfection, then simmered with rice in a sweet and tangy barbecue-infused broth until everything is rich, sticky, and satisfying. Ideal for a weeknight dinner or casual gathering.

Ingredients

1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced

1 1/2 cups uncooked long grain rice

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp olive oil

2 1/2 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup barbecue sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped green onions or parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear sausage slices until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add remaining oil if needed. Sauté chopped onion for 5 minutes until translucent.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add uncooked rice. Stir to coat and toast for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. Pour in chicken broth, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce. Scrape bottom of the pan.
  6. Return sausage to the pan. Bring to simmer, cover, and reduce heat to low.
  7. Simmer for 18–20 minutes, stirring once halfway, until rice is cooked.
  8. Turn off heat. Let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and season to taste.
  9. Garnish with green onions or parsley before serving.
