Description
Flaky puff pastry filled with creamy vanilla-scented cheese and sweet cherry topping, these Mini Cherry Cheese Danishes are perfect for brunch, breakfast trays, or a sweet afternoon treat. A simple drizzle of icing seals the deal, making them both beautiful and delicious.
Ingredients
1 package puff pastry sheets (2 sheets, thawed)
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup cherry pie filling
1 egg (for egg wash)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets and cut each into 9 equal squares. Place the squares on the prepared baking sheet.
3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
4. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of cheese filling onto the center of each pastry square.
5. Top the cheese with a small spoonful of cherry pie filling.
6. Optionally fold or twist the corners slightly toward the center for a decorative shape.
7. Beat the egg and brush the edges of the pastry with it for a golden finish.
8. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
9. While danishes cool slightly, whisk powdered sugar and milk together to create icing.
10. Drizzle icing over each danish and let it set for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, use cold puff pastry when cutting—it holds its shape better.
Don’t overfill the centers or they may leak and burn while baking.
If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the icing drizzle or skip it entirely.
