Description
Savory, cheesy, and irresistibly crispy, Italian Pinwheels are the ultimate party appetizer. Layers of pepperoni, melty mozzarella, and fresh herbs are rolled in buttery crescent dough and baked until golden. They’re quick to make and always a crowd-pleaser—ideal for any gathering!
Ingredients
1 sheet crescent dough
20 slices pepperoni
6 slices salami or ham (optional)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or basil
1 large egg
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the crescent dough on a lightly floured surface and smooth any seams using a rolling pin.
2. Layer the pepperoni evenly over the dough, followed by optional deli meats. Sprinkle mozzarella over the top, then add herbs and Italian seasoning.
3. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge to form a log. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice into 1-inch rounds.
4. Place slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of each pinwheel.
5. Bake for 15–17 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For crispier pinwheels, chill the rolled log in the freezer for 10 minutes before slicing.
Freshly grated mozzarella melts more smoothly than pre-shredded versions.
To reheat leftovers, use an oven or air fryer for best texture retention.
