Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon baking powder

⅛ teaspoon salt

¾ cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk


Instructions

1. Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

2. Add egg and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and beat until smooth.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

4. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture to form a soft dough.

5. On a floured surface, roll the dough into a ¼-inch thick rectangle.

6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the rolled dough.

7. Gently roll the dough into a tight log from the long edge.

8. Chill the dough log in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

9. Slice the chilled log into ½-inch rounds using a sharp knife or unflavored dental floss.

10. Place slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.

11. While cooling, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze.

12. Drizzle glaze over the cooled cookies and let set before serving.

Notes

Let the dough chill before slicing—this keeps the swirls sharp and prevents flattening.

Always use unflavored dental floss or a very sharp knife to preserve the shape when slicing.

Drizzle glaze only after cookies cool to avoid it melting completely off the surface.
