Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
4 medium yellow or white potatoes, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 small onion, diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
4. Use a mandoline or sharp knife to slice potatoes into 1/8-inch rounds. Pat them dry with paper towels.
5. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer 1/3 of the beef mixture, then a single layer of potato slices. Repeat until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of potatoes on top.
6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, until potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden brown.
9. Let rest for 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

Use a mandoline for even, thin potato slices—this ensures they cook through evenly.
Shred your own cheese for the best melt. Pre-shredded cheese can be coated and melt unevenly.
