Description
Grilled Parmesan Garlic Oysters are the perfect blend of ocean-bright brininess and rich, golden flavor. Topped with garlicky butter and melted Parmesan, these oysters are grilled to sizzling perfection. Ideal as an elegant appetizer or special occasion seafood dish.
Ingredients
12 fresh oysters
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 tablespoon breadcrumbs (optional)
Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
1. Rinse and scrub oyster shells under cold water. Shuck each oyster, keeping the meat in the deeper shell half. Discard the top shell.
2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, grated Parmesan, and chopped parsley.
3. Spoon about a teaspoon of the garlic-Parmesan butter onto each oyster. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs if using.
4. Preheat grill to medium-high or set oven to broil. Place oysters on a baking sheet or grill pan.
5. Grill or broil for 5–7 minutes, until the butter is bubbling and the cheese is golden brown.
6. Remove carefully and garnish with parsley. Serve hot with lemon wedges.
Notes
Use medium or large oysters so they hold toppings better and cook more evenly.
Garlic butter can be made a day in advance and refrigerated until ready to use.
For added flavor, lightly toast the breadcrumbs before topping.
