Description
Golden Air Fryer Fries are the crispy, flavorful alternative to deep-fried potatoes—made with less oil and ready in under 20 minutes. Perfect as a side, snack, or appetizer, these fries are fluffy on the inside, golden on the outside, and endlessly customizable.
Ingredients
3 large russet potatoes
1.5 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Wash and peel the potatoes, then slice them into ¼-inch thick sticks.
2. Soak the fries in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
3. Drain and thoroughly pat dry using paper towels or a clean kitchen cloth.
4. Place fries in a mixing bowl and toss with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
6. Arrange fries in a single layer in the basket. Don’t overcrowd.
7. Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.
8. Once golden and crisp, season with extra salt if needed. Serve immediately with your favorite dip.
Notes
Soaking the potatoes in cold water is essential for removing excess starch—this prevents sogginess and improves crisping.
Always dry the potatoes completely before air frying to prevent steaming instead of crisping.
For extra crunch, add a sprinkle of cornstarch before seasoning and tossing.
