Description
A classic comfort side, this Garlic Bread recipe gives you the perfect combination of crisp edges, a soft buttery center, and that irresistible garlic herb aroma. Whether you’re pairing it with pasta, soups, or enjoying it as a standalone snack, this bread is always a hit.
Ingredients
1 loaf French bread or Italian loaf
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt. Mix until smooth.
3. Slice the bread in half lengthwise or into thick slices using a serrated knife.
4. Spread the garlic butter evenly over each piece using a spoon or pastry brush.
5. Place bread pieces on the baking sheet. For soft garlic bread, wrap in foil; for crispier bread, leave uncovered.
6. Bake for 10-12 minutes. If crisping is desired, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.
7. (Optional) Sprinkle with Parmesan or mozzarella cheese after baking and broil again for 1-2 minutes until melted and bubbly.
8. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For freezer prep, assemble with garlic butter and freeze unbaked. Bake directly from frozen adding 5 extra minutes.
Use freshly minced garlic for maximum flavor; jarred garlic won’t have the same aroma or intensity.
Broiling for the final minute enhances crispiness and gives it that golden finish – just watch closely to avoid burning.
