Description
A bold, thick, and flavorful pizza sauce that elevates any homemade pie. Made with simple pantry staples, this sauce brings that pizzeria flavor home—perfect for any style of crust and freezable for meal prep.
Ingredients
28 oz crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp onion powder
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
2. Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Mix until smooth.
3. Add oregano, basil, onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
4. Simmer the sauce uncovered for 25–30 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
5. Optional: Use an immersion blender for a smoother consistency.
6. Cool the sauce completely and transfer to glass jars or airtight containers.
Notes
Use San Marzano or fire-roasted tomatoes for deeper flavor.
Simmering uncovered is key to reducing the sauce and intensifying the flavor.
Always cool completely before storing to avoid condensation and spoilage.
