Description
A spicy, savory stir-fry featuring tender chicken, bell peppers, broccoli, and onions coated in a bold Hunan-style sauce. This dish is quick to make and better than takeout.
Ingredients
1 lb chicken breast, diced
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon soy sauce (for marinating)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (plus more if needed)
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 small yellow onion, chopped
2 cups broccoli florets
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon chili paste or sambal oelek
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup water or chicken broth
Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Toss diced chicken with cornstarch and soy sauce. Set aside.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili paste, sugar, garlic, ginger, and water or broth. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a large skillet or wok. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, stir-fry onions, bell peppers, and broccoli until crisp-tender.
- Return chicken to pan. Add the sauce and stir to coat evenly. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
- Garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
