Description

A spicy, savory stir-fry featuring tender chicken, bell peppers, broccoli, and onions coated in a bold Hunan-style sauce. This dish is quick to make and better than takeout.

Ingredients

1 lb chicken breast, diced

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon soy sauce (for marinating)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (plus more if needed)

1 red bell pepper, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 small yellow onion, chopped

2 cups broccoli florets

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon chili paste or sambal oelek

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 cup water or chicken broth

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toss diced chicken with cornstarch and soy sauce. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili paste, sugar, garlic, ginger, and water or broth. Set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, stir-fry onions, bell peppers, and broccoli until crisp-tender.
  5. Return chicken to pan. Add the sauce and stir to coat evenly. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
