Ingredients
1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits (or 8 homemade buttermilk biscuits)
1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until fully cooked. Leave a small amount of fat in the pan.
- Add flour to the sausage and stir for 1-2 minutes.
- Slowly pour in the milk while stirring constantly. Simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the sausage gravy into the prepared baking dish.
- Cut biscuits in halves or quarters if large. Arrange on top of the gravy.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool slightly, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
