Easy Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast Casserole

Description

A cozy Southern breakfast casserole baked with golden biscuits on top of rich, creamy sausage gravy. It’s simple, filling, and perfect for brunch gatherings or easy weekday breakfasts.


Ingredients

1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits (or 8 homemade buttermilk biscuits)

1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

3 cups whole milk

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until fully cooked. Leave a small amount of fat in the pan.
  3. Add flour to the sausage and stir for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring constantly. Simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour the sausage gravy into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Cut biscuits in halves or quarters if large. Arrange on top of the gravy.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let cool slightly, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
