Description

Sweet, smoky, and fall-apart tender — this Crockpot Dr Pepper Chicken is the ultimate low-effort, high-flavor dinner. It blends the signature caramel notes of Dr Pepper with tangy BBQ sauce for a shredded chicken dish that’s perfect for sandwiches, bowls, or tacos.

Ingredients

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

1 can Dr Pepper (12 oz)

1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (divided)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Salt to taste (optional)

Instructions

1. Place chicken breasts in the crockpot.

2. Pour in Dr Pepper and 3/4 cup of the barbecue sauce.

3. Sprinkle in garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.

4. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours.

5. Once chicken is fork-tender, shred it inside the crockpot using tongs or two forks.

6. Add the remaining 3/4 cup barbecue sauce and stir to coat evenly.

7. Let shredded chicken simmer on low for 15–20 more minutes before serving.

Notes

Use chicken thighs for extra juiciness — they’re forgiving and rich in flavor.

Spicy BBQ sauce = spicy twist — swap in your favorite spicy blend for heat.

Make it freezer-friendly — cool completely and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
