Description

Crispy Chilli Beef Rice is a bold and addictive dinner that brings together crispy golden beef strips tossed in a sweet, sticky, and spicy sauce. Served over fluffy jasmine rice and topped with fresh herbs and crunchy vegetables, it’s your favorite takeout-style meal made completely at home.

Ingredients

1 pound beef flank or sirloin, thinly sliced

3 tablespoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, grated

1 teaspoon chili flakes or 1 fresh red chili, sliced

1 bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 small carrot, julienned

2 spring onions, chopped

2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

3 cups cooked jasmine or basmati rice

1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Oil for frying

Instructions

1. Marinate the beef in soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.

2. Mix sauce ingredients in a small bowl: soy sauce, brown sugar or honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili.

3. Heat oil in a wok or skillet. Fry beef in batches until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels.

4. Drain most of the oil. Stir-fry bell peppers and carrots for 2–3 minutes.

5. Pour in sauce and bring to a simmer. Add the crispy beef and stir to coat. Let sauce reduce slightly.

6. Serve over hot rice. Top with spring onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and extra chili if desired.

Notes

Slice the beef as thin as possible against the grain for maximum tenderness and crispiness.

Don’t overcrowd the pan when frying—this helps maintain oil temperature and crisp results.

Adjust spice level easily by using fewer chilies or substituting with mild ones for a family-friendly version.
