Ingredients

1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into florets

1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free alternative)

1/2 cup water

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

For the Sesame Sauce:

1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1/2 teaspoon grated ginger

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter: In a bowl, mix flour, water, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth. Place panko breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
  2. Coat the cauliflower: Dip each floret into the batter, then roll in panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
  3. Air fry the cauliflower: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the air fryer basket with oil, place the cauliflower in a single layer, and air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  4. Make the sesame sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry until thickened.
  5. Toss and garnish: Coat the crispy cauliflower with the sesame sauce, then sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Serve immediately as a snack, appetizer, or over rice for a complete meal.
