Ingredients

1 lb Italian sausage

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

4 cups chicken or beef broth

8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces

1 cup heavy cream

2 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish

Instructions

1. In a large Dutch oven, brown the sausage and ground beef over medium heat, breaking up meat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.

2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until soft and fragrant, about 3 minutes.

3. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to deepen the flavor.

4. Pour in crushed tomatoes and broth. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 15 minutes.

5. Add broken lasagna noodles and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

6. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.

7. Add mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Stir until melted and incorporated.

8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil or parsley and extra cheese if desired.

Notes

For extra lasagna vibes, dollop in some ricotta before serving.

Freeze the base (without noodles) for up to 2 months and add fresh pasta when reheating.

Make it spicier by swapping regular sausage for hot Italian sausage or adding extra red pepper flakes.
