Description

Recreate the world-famous Big Mac right in your own kitchen with this irresistible copycat recipe. Featuring two seared beef patties, shredded iceberg lettuce, creamy Big Mac sauce, pickles, and melty American cheese all stacked between three layers of toasted sesame buns, it’s the ultimate DIY burger night. Juicy, savory, and loaded with nostalgic flavor, this version is even better than the drive-thru!

Ingredients

2 burger patties (4 oz each) ground beef (80/20)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 slices American cheese

1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce

6 dill pickle slices

2 tablespoons finely chopped white onion

3 sesame seed burger buns (including an extra bottom bun)

3 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish

1 teaspoon yellow mustard

1/2 teaspoon white vinegar

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sweet relish, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to make the Big Mac sauce. Chill for 30 minutes.

2. Divide the ground beef into two equal 4 oz portions. Shape them into thin, wide patties. Season each with salt and pepper.

3. Heat a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked.

4. Split the top and bottom buns. Toast all three layers (top, bottom, and an extra bottom for the center) until golden.

5. On the bottom bun, spread 1 tablespoon of Big Mac sauce. Add 1/2 tablespoon chopped onions, 1/2 cup shredded lettuce, 1 slice cheese, and one patty.

6. Place the center bun on top. Repeat: 1 tablespoon sauce, 1/2 tablespoon onions, 1/2 cup lettuce, 6 pickle slices, and the second patty.

7. Finish with the crown bun. Gently press down to hold everything together.

8. Serve immediately with fries and extra sauce on the side.

Notes

Chill the Big Mac sauce for at least 30 minutes so the flavors can fully develop. It makes all the difference!

Use very cold, dry shredded iceberg lettuce to maintain that signature crunch when assembling.

For the middle bun, use the bottom half of a second sesame bun—don’t skip this if you want an authentic look and structure.
