Ingredients

1 pre-baked pie crust

1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 1/2 cups whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade)

10 maraschino cherries (for garnish)

1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


Instructions

1. Prepare the pie crust: Ensure the pre-baked crust is fully cooled and ready to fill.

2. Add cherry layer: Spread the entire can of cherry pie filling evenly into the crust base. Chill while preparing the next layer.

3. Make chocolate mousse: Beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla until smooth. Slowly add in the heavy cream and beat until light and fluffy.

4. Layer mousse: Gently spread the chocolate mousse over the cherry filling using a spatula.

5. Top with whipped topping: Spread the whipped topping evenly across the chocolate layer.

6. Garnish: Add maraschino cherries and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

7. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set before serving.

Notes

Let the pie chill for a full 2 hours to help the layers firm up—this makes slicing much easier.

Use full-fat cream cheese for best flavor and texture; low-fat versions may not set properly.

For a homemade whipped topping, whip 3/4 cup of heavy cream with 2 tbsp powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
