Description

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls infused with a homemade chai spice blend and topped with a rich cream cheese chai glaze. These are the perfect cozy treat for chilly mornings or sweet brunch tables.

Ingredients

2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast

¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)

¼ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

½ cup brown sugar (for filling)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for filling)

1 ½ tablespoons chai spice blend (for filling and glaze)

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons heavy cream (optional)

Instructions

1. Warm milk and combine with granulated sugar and instant yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2. Whisk in melted butter and eggs until combined.

3. In a stand mixer with a dough hook, combine the flour and the wet mixture. Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

5. Mix brown sugar and chai spice blend in a small bowl to make the filling.

6. Roll dough out to a 16×12 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter across the surface and sprinkle evenly with the chai sugar mix.

7. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge into a log. Slice into 9–12 rolls using a sharp knife or floss.

8. Arrange rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

9. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 22–27 minutes, until golden and fully cooked through.

10. While baking, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and remaining chai spice. Add heavy cream to adjust consistency.

11. Spread glaze over warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

Let the dough fully double in size before shaping to ensure fluffy rolls.

Use dental floss instead of a knife for clean, non-squished roll slices.

Add extra chai spice to the glaze if you love a bold spiced finish.
