Cajun Garlic Chicken Tortellini in Three-Cheese Cream

  • Author: Julia Koch
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 2–3 servings

Description

A rich and spicy comfort dish that brings together juicy Cajun-seasoned chicken, cheese-filled tortellini, and a velvety three-cheese cream sauce. Perfect for cozy nights or dinner guests when you want flavor that truly satisfies.

Ingredients

2 large chicken breasts

9 oz cheese tortellini

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 oz cream cheese

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.

2. In a cast iron skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes per side. Remove and let rest.

3. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

4. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

5. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.

6. Lower the heat and whisk in the cream cheese until melted.

7. Gradually add in Parmesan and mozzarella, stirring until smooth and creamy.

8. Fold the cooked tortellini into the cheese sauce, coating well.

9. Slice the rested chicken and serve over the tortellini.

10. Garnish with chopped parsley and a pinch of Cajun seasoning before serving.

Notes

To tone down the heat, use half the Cajun seasoning or swap for a mild version.

Add a splash of milk or cream while reheating to keep the sauce smooth.

Let the chicken rest before slicing so it stays juicy and doesn’t lose its flavor to the plate.
