Ingredients

1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (flaky style, like “Grands”)

1 lb pork breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 1/2 cups whole milk

Salt and cracked black pepper (to taste)

1 tbsp butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook sausage until browned and cooked through.
  2. Sprinkle in the flour and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk. Stir continuously until thickened and bubbling, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add butter if desired.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Pour the sausage gravy into the dish and spread evenly.
  6. Cut each biscuit into quarters and scatter over the gravy.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let rest a few minutes before serving.
